after trying many other brands that claim they are squirrell busters and were not i must say this product is definately a winner and i would definately recommend it to anyone who is a bird person and loves to watch the beautiful array of birds that feeders attract. i had to watch from my window and chuckle a little bit. the birds can now eat in peace and i might have to add it was quite funny at first to watch the hard headed squirrels try to get the food out of this feeder. i dont mind feeding the squirrels but since i am an avid bird lover it disheartened me to watch the birds sitting on the roof of the garage watching the squirrels eating their food that was put there for them. i have on many occassion put many a bird feeder out to feed the birds and much to my dismay the squirrels had helped their selves to the seed. Well what can i say, finally a product that is helpful for our wonderful birds. True Great squirrel buster plus wild bird feeder by brome! In my opinion, this is the best bird feeder if you also have squirrels. They are quite ingeious little critters, but this feeder hjas them beat. As a bonus, it's entertaining watching the squirrels TRY to figure out how to get to the seeds. So what we usually get now is the smaller more colorful birds and our seeds last much longer. The other great thing about this feeder is that it deters larger biirds that will also quickly deplete your seeds. They eventually just give up and content themselves with occasionally policing the ground beneath it. About the best that the squirrels can do with this one is to shake a few of the seeds to the ground and then they must go all the way back down to retrieve them. We've tried many feeder over the years, some even claiming to be squirrel proof, but none has come close to working as wall as our new Brome 1024 Squirrel Buster Plus Bird Feeder. Squirrels are cute too but with the old feeders they would eat up your seeds in no time and you'd go broke before they got their fill and, of course, they'd deter the birds from feeding. For the price of a few peanuts, or inexpensive cracked corn, squirrels will be happy to entertain. We are big time bird watchers and love to put out bird feeders and watch all the different types of birds that come to feed. Enjoy being free of squirrel problems, but please remember, squirrels also need to eat. Your feeder prevents squirrels from eating expensive seed, scaring the birds and damaging your feeder. Hooks and brackets are available at birding stores, garden centers and hardware supply stores. Use brackets, extension hooks and tree hooks to hang your feeder at the recommended clearance. Hang your feeder over a window, in a tree, on a deck, a fence, in your garden, on the side of your house, from a rain trough or over sliding doors. Position it to get great close-up views of your favorite birds. You can locate this bird feeder anywhere and be squirrel free. This will force the squirrel to climb onto the feeder, thus triggering the closing mechanism. Allow for at least 18 inches or 47 cm of clearance around the feeder. If a squirrel can reach over from a nearby foothold and avoid placing weight on the feeder, he will have access to the seed ports. Remember it’s the squirrel’s weight that triggers the closing mechanism.
